About the film:

“You don’t read the book. The book reads you.” From the dark imaginations of genre master Guillermo del Toro and acclaimed director André Øvredal, based on the iconic young adult horror anthology series by Alvin Schwartz.

“these popular books helped introduce your impressionable mind to the joy of having your spine tingled and your bones chilled… You owe it to your kids to take them to this. It’s training-wheels horror done right.”

—David Fear, Rolling Stone

Halloween night, 1968. In the small town of Mill Valley, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large for generations. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover the book in Sarah’s terrifying home.
