Garth Davis is a renowned film, television, and commercial director. His feature debut Lion (2016) was nominated for six Academy Awards—including Best Picture—and won him best first-time feature director at the Directors Guild of America Awards. Davis’ work has been recognized for his rigorous commitment to detail, cinematic sensibilities, and deep appreciation of the actor-director relationship. His commercial work has been recognized in every major award show around the world, including a Gold Lion at Cannes and a D&AD Pencil for Schweppes Burst. In 2010, he received a nomination at the DGA Awards for best commercials director. His work in television also includes directing the 2013 Emmy Award winning mini-series Top of the Lake alongside Academy Award winner Jane Campion.
