It is the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle of Formula 1, ex-racer Enzo Ferrari is in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their volatile marriage is battered by the loss of their son, Dino. Ferrari struggles to acknowledge another with Lina Lardi. Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

About the filmmaker:

Michael Mann is an American film director, screenwriter, author, and producer, best known for his stylized crime dramas. Entering the entertainment industry as a television writer of 1970s cop shows, he went on to become one of Hollywood’s leading directors. His acclaimed works include his debut feature film Thief (1981), Manhunter (1986), The Last of the Mohicans (1992), Heat (1995), The Insider (1999), Ali (2001), Collateral (2004), and Public Enemies (2009). He is also known for his role as executive producer on the television series Miami Vice (1984–1989), which he adapted into a 2006 feature film of the same name. He has received numerous accolades including a BAFTA Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards as well as nominations for four Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

His feature film Ferrari (2023) competed for the Golden Lion at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.
