After completing his required decade of military service and being honored as a hero, a North Korean sergeant makes a sudden shocking attempt to defect to the South, risking life and limb for the chance to finally determine his own destiny.
About the filmmaker:
Lee Jong-pil is a South Korean writer and director whose films consistently feature characters who pursue their dreams. His most recent feature, Samjin Company English Class (2020), follows a group of graduate female employees who challenge a large corporation. His previous work includes the feature films The Sound of a Flower (2016) and Born to Sing (2013). Before directing, Lee had acting roles in featuring films including The Man from Nowhere (2010). He recently directed his first television series One Day Off (2023).
