—Michael Cieply, Deadline
About the filmmaker:
Grandson of a renown LAPD homicide detective and son of a Hall of Fame corner man, Nicholaus Goossen grew up in his family’s San Fernando Valley based boxing business, “Ten Goose Boxing.” Rather than pursuing the family trade, he ventured into the world of filmmaking at a young age, with his first onscreen credit coming at the age of seventeen. It was his internship in the camera department on the set of the The Wedding Singer (1997) that led to Goossen’s multi-decade relationship with Adam Sandler and his production company Happy Madison. At the age of 26, Nicholaus directed his first feature film at Sandler’s company, the cult classic Grandma’s Boy (2006). His sophomore film, The Shortcut (2009) is a little-seen thriller that had a small VOD release via Anchor Bay/Lightning Entertainment. Since then, Goossen has been busy in the world of television and streaming—writing, producing, and directing several shows and comedy specials. Goossen has returned to directing for the silver screen with his latest feature, Drugstore June (2024).
