Terrence Malick is a celebrated American filmmaker whose poetic films explore themes of morality, empathy, nature, and existence. His work has been recognized at major film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, and he has garnered numerous accolades. In 1999, his film The Thin Red Line (1998) was awarded the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and received Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. He later gained another Best Director nomination for The Tree of Life (2011), as well as the Palme d’Or at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Malick’s other films include Badlands (1973), Days of Heaven (1978), The New World (2005), To the Wonder (2012), and the IMAX documentary Voyage of Time (2016).
