About the filmmaker:
Bart Layton is a British filmmaker known for blending documentary and narrative storytelling in inventive ways. He first gained international recognition with the acclaimed documentary The Imposter, which won multiple awards for its gripping true-crime narrative and unconventional structure. Layton later wrote and directed American Animals, a hybrid crime drama that combines interviews with stylized reenactments to tell the true story of a group of college students who attempt a rare-book heist.
Through his innovative approach to nonfiction storytelling, Layton has become known for pushing the boundaries between documentary and fiction filmmaking.
