A desperate and rugged crew of builders has been gathered to renovate an opulent mansion belonging to the last heir of a once-wealthy military family. The crewmen are each at their wit’s end – broke, living in squalor, and facing their own personal demons.
So when it’s discovered that their employer plans to cheat them, tensions begin to rise to a fever pitch. One by one the men snap, turning first on their boss and then on each other, leading to an explosion of violence that will reveal their darkest motives and ensure that none of them will return home the same, if they return home at all.
About the filmmaker:
Originally a screenwriter, Will Jewell’s desire to lead his own projects pushed him to helm short form drama, web series, band promos, and the British hip hop documentary South Coast (2008). After meeting cinematographer Dominic Jones at Brighton Film School, the two founded independent production company Fractured Films and crafted the BAFTA-winning educational detective game Bow Street Runner. Jewell was also one of the filmmakers selected for BFI London Film Festival’s Think-Shoot-Distribute film lab, an elite talent development initiative for emerging filmmakers.
His stylish short film about conceptual artists orchestrating accidents as art, Man In Fear, premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and screened at the 2012 Cleveland International Film Festival, and he may develop the idea into a feature film in the future.
The Neo-Noir thriller Concrete Plans is Jewell’s debut narrative feature produced by Rob Alexander, Kathy Speirs and Ian Davies with an original score by Paul Hartnoll of pioneering EDM duo Orbital.
