About the film:

Maria Angeles, a 79-year-old Spanish woman, lives alone in Tangier, Morocco, and enjoys her daily routine. However, her life is turned upside down when her daughter arrives from Madrid to sell the apartment in which she has always lived. Determined to stay, she does everything she can to get her home and her belongings back and, unexpectedly, rediscovers love and sensuality.

About the filmmaker:

Maryam Touzani is a Moroccan writer and director known for her intimate, emotionally nuanced portraits of women navigating love, tradition, and social constraint. She made her feature directorial debut with Adam (2019), which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected as Morocco’s submission for the Academy Awards.

Her acclaimed follow-up, The Blue Caftan (2022), also premiered at Cannes and went on to win international awards, earning praise for its tender exploration of marriage, sexuality, and quiet resilience. Touzani’s work is celebrated for its compassion, subtle storytelling, and richly observed performances, establishing her as one of the leading voices in contemporary North African cinema.
