About the film:
Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan) and his companion Mani (Mark Dacascos) are sent to the countryside by the King of France to hunt the Beast of the Gevaudan, an unknown monster said to be responsible for the murder of hundreds. They soon find themselves embroiled in petty local politics and supernatural conspiracies as they use their unique skills to end the slaughter.

The plot is loosely based on a real-life series of killings that took place in France in the 18th century and the famous legend of the beast of Gévaudan. The film’s 4K restored “Director’s Cut” version premiered in the Official Selection of 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
About the filmmaker:
Christophe Gans is a French film director, producer, and screenwriter who specializes in horror and fantasy movies. In 1980, he studied at the French cinema school Idhec and then spent time as a film critic before writing and directing. His most successful feature is Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), which became the sixth-highest-grossing French-language film of all time in the United States. He also directed the 1995 Japanese manga adaptation Crying Freeman, the 2006 video game adaptation Silent Hill, and the 2014 fantasy film Beauty and the Beast. Gans has also appeared in films as an actor, as he portrayed himself in the 2016 film Fury of the Demon.
