About the film:
Winner of Best International Film, Best Screenplay for Boris Frumin, and Best Actor for Levan Tediashvili at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. Former wrestler Kakhi (played by real-life Olympic champion Levan Tediashvili) embarks on a journey from his home in the Republic of Georgia to visit his son in Brooklyn, only to find him living in a shabby boarding house and in debt to a local Russian mob boss. Kakhi sets his mind to helping his hapless son out of his debt, leading to situations as often comic as they are dire.
Brighton 4th is Georgia’s official submission for Best International Feature at the 94th Academy Awards.

About the filmmaker:
Georgian director and screenwriter Levan Koguashvili graduated from the Tisch School of Art’s Graduate Film Program in 2006. That same year, his short film The Debt was selected at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. His debut feature film Street Days premiered at Rotterdam and was selected as the Georgian entry at the Academy Awards in 2010. His 2013 follow-up, Blind Dates, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for a FIPRESCI Prize at Berlin.
Brighton 4th is his third feature film.
