About the filmmaker:
New York native Reinaldo Marcus Green is a writer, director, and producer of underrepresented and complex stories. A graduate of NYU Tisch Graduate Film School, he was one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2015 after the success of his short films Stone Cars and Stop. His debut narrative feature Monsters and Men (2018) received the Special Jury Award for Outstanding First Feature at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and his follow-up Joe Bell (2020) had its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival. He directed Will Smith’s passion project, King Richard (2021), which earned six nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won Best Actor for Smith. Green also directed the acclaimed 2022 HBO miniseries We Own This City. Bob Marley: One Love (2024) is his fourth feature film.
