About the filmmaker:
Making history as Marvel’s first female solo director, Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland’s three acclaimed feature films – Somersault (2004), Lore (2012), and Berlin Syndrome (2017) – are all centered around a young woman in harrowing circumstances. After initially turning down Marvel on directing Black Widow, Shortland took the job.
