Ben is a forty-something cantor losing his voice and possibly his faith. Struggling to meet the expectations of his rabbi, congregation, and not one but two Jewish mothers, Ben finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher re-enters his life as an adult bat mitzvah student.

About the filmmaker:
Nathan Silver is a prolific independent filmmaker who has directed nine feature films throughout his 15-year career thus far. His film Uncertain Terms (2014) earned significant praise during its festival run, earning numerous award nominations and wins at festivals like Cleveland International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, and Memphis Indie Film Festival. Later, his 2017 film Thirst Street earned the American Independent Award at the 2017 Denver International Film Festival and was nominated for the Jury Award at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. Silver’s newest film, Between the Temples (2024), premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival where it was nominated for a Jury Prize.
