About the filmmaker:
Ari Aster is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He perfected his craft in short films before premiering his debut feature film Hereditary (2018) in the Midnight section at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. He followed up with the psychological thriller Midsommar (2019). A New York native, he earned a fellowship into the graduate directing program at the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles. His thesis, the short film The Strange Thing About the Johnsons (2011), premiered at the 2011 Slamdance Film Festival.
Beau Is Afraid (2023) is his third feature with A24 Films.
