About the filmmakers:

Yoshiyuki Tomino, winner of Tokyo Anime’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021, created the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Ryôji Fujiwara is known for Mobile Suit Gundam I (1981), Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) and Xabungle (1982). The Gundam series is famous for revolutionizing the giant robot genre due to the handling of mobile suits as weapons of war, as well as the portrayal of their pilots as ordinary soldiers. The first Gundam series, which has subsequently been adapted into numerous sequels and spin-offs, was re-edited for theatrical release and split into three films in 1981.
