Allen, a brilliant biochemist who’s unlucky in love, devises a compound to turn polyamorous leanings into monogamous ones. He injects his lesbian best friend, Marcia, to help her overcome her habit of cheating on her bisexual wife, Sarah. But when Sarah finds Marcia’s new fixation on her to be suffocating, Marcia insists Allen give Sarah a dose too. However, Allen’s intervention takes an unexpected turn as Sarah falls for him, who must team up with a rival scientist, Lisa, for whom he’s falling, to set things right.

About the filmmaker:

Etana Jacobson is a director, writer, and producer from California. Her narrative feature debut is the sexy science comedy Advanced Chemistry (2024), which had its World Premiere at Dances With Films: NY in 2023. Among previous directing work, her 2011 short film Elemental was selected at the Tribeca Sloan Summit at the Director’s Guild of America and won the prestigious Sloan Directing Fellowship.

As an actor and filmmaker, Jacobson’s work has shown at Sundance, Cannes, Slamdance, Syfy Channel, AMC Theatres FilmFest, and Frameline. She’s been staffed at Sony, USA Networks and Syfy as a director, producer, writer and talent. She’s written on blockbuster video games for Sony, LucasArts and Ubisoft. After she was invited to live, work and perform with indigenous groups in remote locations, some of her experiences became the subject of “The Journey”, a global hit podcast by KLM Airlines. Jacobson holds an MFA in Directing from UCLA Film School, where she has taught in the MFA program. She also attended NYU Tisch.
