Nia DaCosta is a groundbreaking American filmmaker known for directing Little Woods, Candyman, and The Marvels, making history as the first Black woman to direct a Marvel Cinematic Universe film and the first Black woman to have a film debut at #1 at the U.S. box office (Candyman).
Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1989, she studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and gained recognition for her bold storytelling in the crime drama Little Woods before achieving mainstream success with horror and superhero blockbusters.
