About the film:

Based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, Dan Da Dan is an electrifying, action-packed love letter to sci-fi and horror with the heart of a ruthlessly funny teen rom-com.

Momo and Okarun set out on their latest adventure, traveling to a hot springs town home rented by Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, with the goal to solve the mystery surrounding his family. When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there’s more lurking under the surface of the town than they could possibly have imagined. Theatrical event featuring four episodes of the anime, including the first three episodes of the second season, and an exclusive interview with series co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora.

About the filmmakers:

Fuga Yamashiro started his career in as a production assistant before working as unit director on the award-winning and genre-bending film Inu-Oh (2021) and as an episode director on The Heike Story. He also served as assistant director and storyboard artist on Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! (2020) and as assistant director on Ride your Wave (2019) and Tatami Time Machine Blues (2022). The anime series Dan Da Dan (2024) is Yamashiro’s directorial debut.

Abel Góngora is a Spanish animator and director based in Japan. He is best known for his work with the Japanese animation studio Science SARU. Among other projects, he served as the head of digital animation on Science SARU’s feature film productions Lu Over the Wall (2017) and The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl (2017), the Netflix series Devilman crybaby (2018), and the feature film Ride Your Wave (2019). Góngora began his career in Europe the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon and French animation studio Ankama.
